Day-1:
Takeover from AIRPORT - Most
international flights lands in night- takeover
from airport and shift to hotel. Take rest. If
you are coming from DOMESTIC FLIGHT- you can reach
CHANDIGARH same day.
Day-2:
Reaching CHANDIGARH - In moderate traffic
of DELHI- it can take 5-6 hrs in reaching CHANDIGARH.
Chandigarh is modern and planned city of INDIA.
Do have a visit in evening at internationaly famous
ROCK GARDEN,ROSE GARDEN and SUKHNA LAKE.
Day-3:
Reaching MANALI- We start travel after
breakfast and very soon we find ourselves in VALLE
OF GODS- this is famous KULLU VALLEY.
Day-4:
Rest Day - We suggest you to take local
walking in mountain as this willhelp you in getting
acclimitized to mountain air.
Day-5:
Reaching Keylong - traveling over ROHTANG PASS
Day-6:
Keylong-Gramphu,
Day-7: Gramphu-Chhatru, see details
on Manali to Keylong over Hamta Pass.
Day-8:
Chhatru-Chhota Dara,
Day-9: Chhota Dara-Foot of Glacier,
Cross river Chandra. Then trek over loose moraine
to reach a fiat grassy patch for camping.
Day-10: Foot-Glacier Camp,
Go jumping, avoiding and negotiating crevasses
to camp on rather flat and safe patch on the glacier.
If lucky you may find signs of another camp there.
Day-11: Glacier Camp-Concordia,
Concordia offers breath taking view. Four glaciers
meet here. One can see alternating longitudinal
stripes of brilliant white ice and dark debris.
Camp at about 4700 m near a tarn in the middle
of the glacier. Safe from avalanches and falling
stones.
Day-12: Concordia-Chopini Thach/
end of Tichu Glacier,
From Concordia the ascent to the Gunthar Pass
is Slow. It may take more than two hours. Alti
of the pass is 5985 m. Another two hours strenuous
walk brings one to the other tongue of this glacier.
One may like to pitch tents here for the night
or like to go to Thach for rest.
Day-13: Thach-Kalboti,
From the tongue of the glacier the route is narrow
along the right bank of Tichu nullah. Down this
route one ends up stating at a 30 ft high rock
with no other passage visible. However there is
a very narrow and impossible looking passage along
the gorge. One may repel down to reach Kalboti
or may prefer to climb the rock to follow a longer
route to reach Kalboti taking an extra day.
Day-14: Kalboti - Rest day.
Day-15: Kalboti-Pulga,
From Kalboti follow the right bank of the Tosh
nullah to the point Where it meets Parbati river.
From there follow the right bank of the river
to reach Pulga.
Day-16: Pulga (2895 m)-Manikaran,
12 kms
Pluga is located in a very narrow valley with
steep hills. The area is totally forested.
Day
17: Travel back to Chandigarh - Hotel stay.
Day
18: Travel back to DELHI- Hotel stay.
